With III a new period begins for Take That. The singing group will continue as a trio in 2014, after Jason Orange and Robbie Williams parted ways. The album title III has everything to do with this, of course, although it also refers to the history of Take That. After the original period of the group (1989-1996) and the successful reunion (2005), the remaining members start on the third chapter.
They do this with a varied pop album with productions by Greg Kurstin and Stuart Price, among others, who previously made mega hits with Katy Perry and Madonna. And with singer Gary Barlow still in the ranks, nothing can go wrong anyway. III offers a number of tracks for the general public and a few fun experiments with synthpop and r & b, among others. An ode to Jeff Lynne - such as the beautiful hit Shine from 2007 - is unfortunately missing, despite the promise that III would include a collaboration with the ELO foreman. Lovers of that sound should definitely put on Requiem from Gary Barlow's solo album Since I Saw You Last, which was released earlier in 2014. (JE)more
