Rapper Ares is from Oosterhout. He shares that place of residence with hip-hop legend Extince, just like his label (Top Notch), but the similarities have also been mentioned. Earlier, Ares (Rens Ottema), who delivers his debut album with Road Trip, is reminiscent of The Opposites and Gers Pardoel. Just like these popular acts (who both cooperated), Ares can be heard not only rapping but also singing,
… and especially in his sometimes somewhat worked-up recitation we hear The Opposites. Outside the Netherlands, the most important reference is Drake, especially when the tempo slows down and the vocals are forced through the effects machine, as in the songs Diamanten Kettingen and Insomnia. Road Trip's productions are often related to r & b and electronics and are without doubt atmospheric, although a real highlight is missing.
