Blondie has been around for 40 years and to celebrate that anniversary the group is releasing a double album. On the second CD they record their greatest hits for a second time, while disc 1 is a new album: Ghosts Of Download, their tenth. Blondie has been recording new albums since 1997 that cannot measure up to their success albums from the seventies in terms of popularity. It doesn't seem to
… really bother the group. Blondie still has her three main band members (Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and Clem Burke) on board and they still radiate fun even in their sixties. Moreover, they are not afraid to try something new. The New Yorkers in Sugar On The Side and I Screwed Up play around with cumbia and reggaeton and that turns out surprisingly well. The electropop in Rave also sounds inspired. Blondie also surprises on the second CD. It's dangerous to rewarm your old hits, but Greatest Hits Redux sounds remarkably vital. With a clear 2014 production, the songs blast from the speakers as if reborn. (PdK)more
