Rapper / producer Wax made good use of YouTube around the year 2007 and has generated more than 58 million views with his videos showing his rap skills. It was therefore no surprise that the half-Irish half-Cuban rapper was signed by Def Jam. After three albums on that label, Wax thought it was time for more creative control and
… the record Continue is the first achievement after his departure. Humor and self-mockery strike the clock on this CD. It is very tempting to dismiss his music as too poppy and corny, but the fact remains that Wax has more to say than many of his more famous colleagues and also comes across as more human. In terms of production he does not always have the right note, but the beats are generally fresh and pure enough for the traditional hip hop lover. A real summer album, which alternates in theme between lightness and seriousness, and which has the power to surprise even the most conservative critic. (GL)more
