Although many will still know him from his time with Deep Purple and Rainbow, guitar virtuoso Ritchie Blackmore is already ready for his eighth long player with his wife Candice Night. There are less medieval influences on Dancer And The Moon than on the previous work. That has given way to especially impressive guitar work mixed with Celtic influences. It can be heard directly in the beautifully
… covered opener I Think It's Going To Rain Today and the following fairytale Troika, where Night once again proves to be a great singer. Striking is the beautifully transformed Lady Black, originally a song by Uriah Heep, as well as the beautifully performed Rainbow hit Temple Of The King. Also beautiful is the instrumental final piece Carry On Jon, on which Blackmore can indulge in his Fender. With Dancer And The Moon, the couple seems to have finally found the ideal mix of folk, medieval influences and that little bit of pop rock that was often missing in the past. (BvdV)more
