Like any style of music deserves to be recycled over time, so does big beat. At the end of the last century, producers such as Fatboy Slim introduced this genre to the dance market. … Records survived by staying true to the genre. Today we call it breakfunk and, as the name suggests, it has taken on a more funky slant. Producers like Danny Massure, Quincy Jointz, BadBoe and Basement Freaks are among the main makers. After several successful releases on 12-inch, Greek producer George Fotiadis decided to refrain from using samples and to work with singers who provided his own compositions with vocals. Something Freaky is probably on the eve of a whole series of such releases and sets the bar at a fairly good level. (AD)more
