Singer / songwriter Jakob Dylan does not want to be reminded of his famous father in interviews. But how remarkably he looks like father Bob at the time of his domestic period, in the late 1960s in Woodstock, with records such as Nashville Skyline and New Morning. The time when he fathered, in fact, the 1969 born Jacob. But despite or thanks to his father, Jakob Dylan managed to build a steady and
… successful career of his own from the nineties, especially in America, with his band the Wallflowers. He cannot hide his origins on his second solo album either. The question is of course whether there is a singer / songwriter who was not influenced by Bob Dylan. But under production of T Bone Burnett, Women + Country became a much broader album full of bluesy americana. Strong songs like Lend A Hand and We Don ' The Live Here Anymore recall Tom Waits from the time of Rain Dogs, which is not surprising with that typical atonal guitar playing of Marc Ribot in the accompaniment. Women + Country is not an original, but it is an atmospheric and beautifully prepared album by this exasperated famous son. (MR)more
