Although REM's studio records do not generate much excitement, the Athens alternative rock band will also be selling out stadiums worldwide in the new millennium as a live act. And it must be said, on their most recent album (2008) the band sounded more eager than ever, which boded well for a successful tour. Live At The Olympia In Dublin shows that REM is mainly concerned with strengthening ties
… with their fans from the very beginning. Almost all the big hits from the successful albums , and missing from a set list dominated by recent work and material from the pre-breakthrough phase. This escape from the clutches of the mainstream is to be appreciated, but it sometimes also feels a bit forced.
