The recent albums of U2 and Depeche Mode were met with a loud drum roll. How different is that with their contemporaries of the Simple Minds, and that while that group still has a loyal fan base. Perhaps a typical case of a dated image. In 2008, in line with the prevailing trend, the Minds considered a reunion. … 'had already talked to each other within half an hour'. Oh, and it didn't come to making music either. Graffiti Soul, their fifteenth album, was therefore only recorded in the same line-up as predecessor Black & White 050505 from 2002. Opener Moscow Underground sounds inspired, just like the title track. The single Rockets has hit potential, but for the most part Graffiti Soul sounds mostly routine: thorough but without surprises.
