Singer and guitarist Roine Stolt was only seventeen years old when he started playing with the now legendary progressive Swedish rock group KAIPA in 1973. Prog turned out to be in his blood and to this day he has not let go of this genre. His current group The Flower Kings was formed in 1994 and quickly built up a worldwide cult following (the so-called Flowerheads). With his great work ethic, Stolt
… rarely disappoints his fans. The Sum Of No Evil is released cold one year after the ambitious double album Paradox Hotel and shows a group that has grown further. On this album the American rock influences seem to have been pushed back and in the epic pieces this time mainly British symphonic prog sounds through in the traditions of Yes and King Crimson. The lyrics full of recurring calls for love and mercy give the album a conceptual undertone. With this extremely complex piece of work that requires many listening turns, Stolt seems to have delivered his own Tales From Topographic Oceans (the Yes classic from 1973). (MR)more
