Due to the success of the debut album Faded Seaside Glamor (2004) and the subsequent European tour, frontman and singer Greg Gilbert of the English group Delays was more or less forced to leave his safe home environment. The romantic songs of the debut album were often created in his bedroom. On the second album You See Colors, they are clearly written on the road in the dressing room and the tour
… bus, with the stage sound still reverberating in mind. Although the ensemble playing on You See Colors has become a bit closer and the songs more uptempo, the most important element of Delays, Gilbert's recognizable falsetto vocals, has not changed. The album may be livelier and more consistent than its predecessor, but the songs are less catchy. The famous 'second album syndrome' seems to have taken hold of Delays too. You See Colors offers solid and well-produced guitar pop, but it is not completely convincing. (MS)more
