To be clear, this is not about a band but about one person, the Frenchman Jackson Fourgeaud from Paris. Once started with a typical French filterhouse, he ended up more in the Warp corner (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher) with Smash, where his debut CD is not accidentally released. It seems that Fourgeaud
… has been working on Smash for four years, and you can hear that. There is hardly a straightforward beat to be found on it and it continuously throws low on low, with a confusing effect. The one time a piano from an old rave classic and sampled female vocals in something that resembles a danceable track, at other times weird cut-up beats and strange bleeps and crackling noises that can no longer be tied to. All disorienting, but it does make Smash an adventurous CD. (IV)more
