The Welsh band Super Furry Animals succeeds time and again in delivering a CD that sounds slightly different, but which clearly could only have been made by the 'Furries'. Like Love Kraft, the group's seventh album. The follow-up to Phantom Power (2003) is again a mix of all kinds of styles (electronica, folk, house, soul, etc.), which is covered under a thick layer of psychedelics. Love Kraft is
… a warm and relaxed CD that sounds strikingly as a whole for SFA's. Of course there are plenty of surprises hidden in it, with the most striking novelty that besides regular vocalist Gruff Rhys also the other band members can be heard singing, but the atmosphere of the album is continuously maintained. And that atmosphere is crazy, cheerful and sunny. So at first hearing little can be made of the fanciful lyrics, but as long as this cozy nonsense is presented in such an extremely pleasant way, it makes little difference. (IV)more
