Maria McKee made her debut in 1985 as the singer of the country rock company Lone Justice. Only with the solo hit Show Me Heaven the general public got to know her. Her solo albums never became mega successes, partly due to her style diversity. On Peddlin 'Dreams, however, McKee leaves a very solid, unambiguous impression. The country / americana influences can be heard clearly, for example through
… the use of the pedal steel guitar. The quiet singer / songwriter songs linger a bit but McKee's voice sounds crystal clear. She co-wrote the songs with husband Jim Akin, who more or less brought her back to her country roots. The hysteria in McKee's voice, which could count for some criticism in the past, has disappeared on Peddlin 'Dreams. Lovers of American female singer / songwriters can no longer ignore Maria McKee with this album. (JdD)more
