The eighth full-fledged studio album by They Might Be Giants leaves few surprises. The sixteen songs are, as always, compact, melodic and provided with slightly absurd lyrics. While this nerd rock was unique in the late eighties, TMBG was later joined by bands like Ween and The Fountains Of Wayne. The commercial success of the early nineties disappeared, but the group continued to make records for
… a small group of fans. They have known for years what to expect from a new TMBG album. Airy, playful, clever pop, which may occasionally suffer from a certain lack of depth, but just as often amuses. And now and then the duo still manages to surprise, such as in the Museum Of Idiots arranged with many wind instruments. Anyway, an album by They Might Be Giants is always good for a smile. (MS)more
