After six albums, the Texan band Centro-matic has built up a solid fan base among fans of alternative American rock. Fairly traditional songs are performed with the necessary aggression, with the underlying melancholy always lurking. They say they are out to create a new form of 'classic rock'. Rocking certainly does - the rhythm section is impressive - but the melodies are too obtrusive and the
… performances too intense to reach a large audience. This is also the case on this seventh album, Love You Just The Same, which is named after a song by singer Will Johnson that did not make the final selection. A luxury problem, enough memorable songs remain to make this CD an artistic success as well. Especially recommended for fans of Buffalo Tom and Neil Young. (MS)more
