For her latest album Storm, singer / songwriter Heather Nova has gone back to basics. Simple and acoustic songs with sparse accompaniment, and always in the lead role Novas voice, which still sounds as angelic and enchanting. … took place in the studio where Mercury Rev recorded the CD All Is Dream. Vocals and guitar were recorded at Heather Nova's home in Bermuda while the rest were recorded high in the snowy mountains of Woodstock. The result is a very beautiful, dreamy CD, where the atmosphere is paramount. Some highlights: Everytime, with guitar by Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), River Of Live with glockenspiel, and the fully acoustic title track with ambient sounds of Bermuda. (IV)more
