The Californian band Smash Mouth already managed to score two big hits in America (Walkin 'In The Sun and All Star), but in the Netherlands the press and radio know hard to place the smart pop rock of this foursome. Just like with the two predecessors (Fush Shu Mang from 1997 and Astro Lounge from 1999) Smash Mouth does not know how to fascinate the full length with this third self-titled album,
… but catchy songs like Holiday In The Sun and Sister Psychic have the potential to once again to make a splash in the charts. The band sound is shifting more and more towards elementary rock 'n'roll, which is somewhat at the expense of the high' novelty 'content of the music. However, because the aforementioned singles and the fun Monkeescover (I'm A Believer from the animated film Shrek! ) as bonus tracks are included, this CD is a perfect introduction to the music of Smash Mouth.
