Rapper Afu-Ra first appeared on the album The Sun Rises In The East by his mentor and groundbreaking rapper Jeru The Damaja (1994). This guest contribution already made quite an impression in the hip-hop underground at the time, but it took until 2000 before the first full-fledged solo album by Afu-Ra was released (Body Of The Life Force), which was also well received. … Radio, the philosophically minded Afu-Ra, influenced by the Egyptian Book of Death, continues its upward trend. The tracks are notable for their own use of samples, including from reggae music. In his lyrics, the committed Rastafarian stays far away from the violent and materialistic lyrics of many of his hip-hop colleagues.
