The Pattern consists of five tough guys who all come from Oakland, California. Their first full-fledged CD Real Feelness was released less than a year after the promising mini-CD Immediately (2001). They play garage rock, a style of music that is very hip again in 2002 thanks to bands like The Strokes, The Vines, BRMC and The Hives. The band's main songwriter is guitarist Jason Rosenberg, who
… previously played in the emo band St. James Infirmary. Singer Christopher Appelgren sings his lyrics to the same whiny tone as, for example, Liam Gallagher from Oasis or Ben Gautrey from Cooper Temple Clause. It is also clearly audible that the gentlemen of The Pattern have listened carefully to Never Mind The Bollocks by the Sex Pistols. After you have loaded the disc into your CD player for the first time and pressed 'play', a whirlwind of sound will come your way. After exactly thirty minutes you will have heard twelve overwhelming songs, at least half of which deserve the label 'classic'. This is how modern rock & roll should sound. What a noise, what a party record! (MvP)more
