De Dijk's thirteenth album is released in the year in which the band celebrates its 20th anniversary. The title of the CD is an appropriate one. After all, De Dijk is a real musician band with the motto: hard work and little appearance. This working class mentality has paid off. In the 20 years of its existence, the band has acquired a solid position at the top of Dutch rock'n'roll. This CD arrived
… in the first week on the first record of the Dutch album list. Behind the buttons were ex-super sub-guitarist JB Meijers and drummer Antonie Broek, who have given the rock-solid sound of the band a contemporary touch. Especially the quiet pieces have gained more depth due to the layered production. De Dijk's music is still a thorough mix of rock, blues and soul: combined with the simple but extremely effective texts of Huub van der Lubbe a golden formula. Musicians Don't Dance isn't much better or worse than the band's previous records. It's just De Dijk's next album and that's recommendation enough. (MS)more
