As the grandson of a preacher, David Eugene Edwards developed a fascination with stories of hell and damnation. In 1992 he decided to found Sixteen Horsepower in order to exploit this source of inexhaustible inspiration. Sixteen Horsepower is now allowed to study a small, but impressive catalog in the alternative country area. Edwards' brooding, God-fearing lyrics provide the perfect tension for

As the name Folklore suggests, there is only room for four of your own compositions on this CD. The rest of Folklore is filled with traditional work and compositions by Hank Williams and the Carter Family, without breaking the mood, although the banjo game dominated Single Girl of the latter family is suddenly very cheerful.
