The British guitar quartet Bush already released their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994 and was immediately accused of being a Nirvana clone. Although Bush also dabbled in grunge and singer Gavin Rossdale did indeed sound a bit like Kurt Cobain in terms of voice, Bush did have his own face musically. Hits were there with Little Things, Comedown and Glycerine. The second album Razorblade Suitcase
… got them good critical acclaim and the hit Swallowed. On the 1999 released The Science Of Things, Bush broadens the grunge sound with electronics and a lot of studio technology, which does not turn out to be entirely satisfactory. At Golden State, however, Bush is back in the old-fashioned way and the music is predominantly loud, full of hooks, catchy and melodic. The People That We Love is also doing well in the charts. We are satisfied, Bush is satisfied. (RWK)more
