Guaranteeing country singer Tanya Tucker's comeback in 2019 were fellow
Brandi Carlile and
Shooter Jennings. They co-wrote many of the songs and produced that year's
While I'm Livin' album. For follow-up Sweet Western Sound, the Texas singer managed to snare the duo again. And that's good news because once again they capture Tucker as the tough female exponent of outlaw country she always was.
Seasoned and with stiff and dark voice she sings of American life. "When the rodeo is over, where does the cowboy go?", Tucker asks herself in the heartfelt closing number about a rodeo performer who has gone downhill. The singer herself is firmly back in the saddle with Carlile and Jennings at her side. (MR)more
