What about Willie Nelson's 67th studio album? This eighties American singer, songwriter, activist and weed smoker is a monument of the outlaw country. And even beyond that, because he never stuck to emphatic styles. His fragile and lilting voice in particular has always been his trademark. A voice with which he knows how to move you. And that is just missing from Last Man Standing. Nelson co-wrote
… the songs with his producer Buddy Cannos. Together they guarantee a good country rock album. Nelson is often funny in his lyrics, about bad breath and the fact that heaven is closed and hell is overcrowded (Heaven Is Closed). Also musically it goes well, with a solid band. Unfortunately, Last Man Standing doesn't really stir anything. (MR)more
