Country singer Kenny Chesney found himself in the spotlight of the tabloid press in 2005. He married movie star Renee Zellweger (including Bridget Jones Diary), only to divorce a few months later. Perhaps it was this experience that gave Chesney the inspiration to release a second full-length album with The Road And The Radio in one year, after Be As You Are (Songs From An Old Blue Chair) had already
… been released in 2005. But contrary to what you would expect, The Road And The Radio is not a 'processing album'. There seems to be hardly any room for relationship pain, at least not more than on previous Chesney CDs. The Road And The Radio may be less laidback than Be As You Are, but it is mostly filled with melancholic tinged songs about the value of simple happiness and some more up-tempo tracks. This time too the album was good for a first place in the American album charts. (IV)more
