American country singer Alan Jackson was born in 1958 in Newnan, Georgia. Domestically, he is a superstar who has sold millions of albums and won countless awards. His debut Here In The Real World (1990) immediately went platinum and all subsequent albums reached at least the same status. Jackson is originally a so-called 'honky-tonker' but since moving to Nashville his music has started to sound
… more commercial (slicker). His tenth album When Somebody Loves You (2000) received less positive reviews because of this. With the follow-up Drive (2002), Jackson takes a convincing revenge on his critics. It has become a very personal album, for which he wrote nine of the twelve songs himself. The most striking track is without a doubt Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning. This emotional song is about the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Other highlights are the duet with George Strait (Designated Drinker) and the title track dedicated to his father. (MvP)more
