Room Eleven, built around the fragile yet seductive vocals of Janne Schra, is named after a cocktail. They themselves 'shake' a cocktail of bossa nova, folk, blues and pop. The last ingredient in particular is presented in a girlish, nothing-to-the-hand manner and results in diary issues such as rain showers, washing up and especially (whether or not failed) relationships. Under the production
… direction of DJ / producer Floris Klinkert, Room Eleven has put all its strength into the first fifteen minutes of Six White Russians And A Pink Pussycat, culminating in a sensual performance of George Michaels Faith. After that it all gets a bit too cute and it starts to look very similar. The constant restrained playing of the band does not contribute to this. Nowhere is a climax to be found, the songs ripple on endlessly. Adding a dash of Tabasco wouldn't hurt Room Eleven, something spicier is allowed. In July 2006 Room Eleven will be at the North Sea Jazz Festival. This version of Six White Russians And A Pink Pussycat has a bonus CD that includes the cover Bitch twice, originally by Meredith Brooks, which was used in a commercial. (AD)more
