Everyone can propose something at a chocolate moment. Singer Patti Cathcart puts it this way: 'a chocolate moment is that second where you eat that great piece of chocolate, and you're just going ... mmmm!' It is almost impossible to come up with a better metaphor for promoting your CD. The couple Tuck (Andress) and Patti have long made an impression with sparingly arranged records: with only one
… voice and a guitar. In the limitation one finds the master and that also applies in this case. Every nuance in the vocals and guitar playing has been considered; after all, it must convince in all nakedness. The jazzy sounds of Tuck's guitar also contrast nicely with Patti's smoky soul voice. Usually they focus - in the best jazz tradition - on interpreting the so-called 'standards', but this album consists entirely of original material. That - and the fact that this is the first CD on their own label (T&P) - makes Chocolate Moment the most original work of the duo to date. (MS)more
