Singer Judy Niemack has developed very well. She can now be counted among the better jazz singers in the world. She clearly has her own style, a full, powerful voice, her 'timing' is exceptional and she has a huge swing, as in the opening track "You and the night and the music" from her new CD "Night and the music". . On this CD she was accompanied by Kenny Werner (piano), Ray Drummond (bass), Billy
… Hart (drums), Jean Francois Prins (guitar) and on a song by Jacques Brel ("La chanson des vieux amants") by Eric Friedlander (cello). This CD contains eleven tracks, most of them jazz classics, such as: "Goodbye", "Turn out the stars", "My favorite things" and "What is this thing called love". Some standards were later provided with text by others, such as: "Well, you needn't" by Thelonious Monk, which was provided with text by Mike Ferro and was entitled "It's over now". There are also a number of Niemack compositions on this excellent CD ("Wondering" and "Her tomato kiss"). _more
