Bassist Clemens van der Feen has played with jazz greats such as Toots Thielemans, Tony Malaby and Chris Potter in the past. In order to play the pieces he has written in recent years, he formed a band consisting of his favorite Dutch jazz musicians. Guitarist Jesse van Ruller, pianist Harmen Fraanje and drummer Flin van Hemmen are the designated persons for the interpretation of Van der Feen's
… music that moves freely between pop, jazz rock and improvisation. In practice this comes down to heavy jazz rock in which Return To Forever has clearly served as a source of inspiration, until the fragile Round It Goes is a tribute to the music of Joni Mitchell in general and the bass sound of Jaco Pastorius in particular. Van der Feen actually had a singer in mind for this piece, but once Toots Thielemans had played the melody line on his harmonica, the song was finished. The saxophone of his brother Paul, with whom he wrote Brothers, can be heard in three compositions. (AD)more
