In 2005 fusion guitarist Larry Coryell, bassist Victor Bailey (ex-Weather Report) and drummer Lenny White (ex-Return To Forever) debuted as the super trio CBW with Electric. Every now and then it goes into the sensitive acoustic direction with Jake's Lullaby and Joyce's Favorite, but these are just exceptions. The rest of Traffic is filled with steaming power jazz. Besides covers like Manic Depression
… by Jimi Hendrix and Misterioso by Thelonious Monk (with Coryell in a rare moment on slide guitar), the rest of the songs come from their own hands. Here too CBW creates a unique synthesis between jazz, funk, rock and blues. On Drums & Bass, Bailey demonstrates his taping technique on the neck of the bass with two hands. Traffic was recorded in a 'take' in the acoustically rich environment of St. Peter ' s Episcopal Church in New York, which greatly enhances the sound quality on this CD, which is also suitable for SACD players.
