Michael Jordan seems to be flying almost every now and then when he is playing basketball, Louie Bellson also seems to have wings on this CD, which opens with Air Jordan, also when he is playing drums. What can that man, who played in the big big bands, play drums! He was accompanied by Pete Christlieb (tenor saxophone / flute), Sal Lozano (alto / soprano saxophone / flute), Conte Candoli (trumpet
… / flugelhorn), Andy Martin (trombone), Larry Novak (piano), Dave Stone (bass) and John Heard (bass). The swing is back, especially with songs like Lou's Blues, Tito (dedicated to Tito Puente), Groove Blues and the closing PMH. Nice quiet songs include Ballade and Mele Kalikimaka. Bellson wrote all 13 compositions on this CD himself, often together with Jack Hayes and Remo Palmier. A good CD from this top drummer.more
