Beautiful ensemble playing on this CD by trumpet / flĀ³gelhorn player Claudio Roditi and the Metropole Orchestra. Roditi wrote two of the 10 compositions: "The natural bridge", a song that has its basis in Brazil and in which Roditi also incorporated beautiful jazz lines and the beautiful melodic opening track "Rua Dona Margerida". Rob Pronk, the leader of the Metropole Orchestra and the arranger,
… also wrote two songs: the quiet 'bossa nova'-like song "Nocturn" and the fascinating "Blue Narcissus". Special is the performance of "Sofly as in the morning sunrise", containing references to Ravel's "Daybreak" and numerous variations on this composition written by Romberg. The other five jazz classics are: "Airegin", "Speak low", "Triste", "The night has a thousand eyes" and "On the trail". Well worth this CD!more
