In the feature film Ad Astra, Brad Pitt goes in search of his father, who is hiding somewhere deep in space. The science fiction film has a simple but catchy underlying dramatic tone that mainly hides in the characters and, unlike much science fiction, does not rely on alien or technological themes and effects. Max Richter's soundtrack fits in perfectly with this, with menacing and minimal themes
… (lots of drones and elongated strings) epitomizing the quest of Pitt's character and his weightlessness in space. A soundtrack to float away from. The film also relies heavily on the visual aspect and is therefore definitely worth watching in combination with this beautiful soundtrack. (JvQ)more
