Primo Uomo (first man) is the common name given to castrato singers in the 18th century. There have been no castrati since the 19th century. Angelo Manzotti is a countertenor who has developed his voice in such a way that he is able to sing at soprano level. He therefore calls himself 'sopranista'. In addition, Manzotti has a special interest in the bel canto repertoire. Last year he made his debut
… in the Netherlands during the Belcanto festival in Dordrecht with a program about one of the greatest castrati: Farinelli. The registration of this concert has now been released on CD. This year Manzotti was again present at the Festival. He is accompanied by the Belcanto Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Ton Kos. You can listen to arias by Giacomelli, Hasse and Broschi._more
