It has been almost 3.5 years since the German ensemble Singer Pur focused on the secular part of Adrian Willaert's Musica Nova. This collection was published in 1559 and contains madrigals and motets by this important composer. It is actually surprising that these works have never been recorded before, except for a few that ended up on compilation CDs. Now Singer Pur finally finishes the work by
… also recording all the motets from Musica Nova. And again they do it brilliantly, with a perfectionism that Willaert would appreciate - he was known for this quality and often corrected his own work. The enthusiast should not complain in the meantime either; they can enjoy one major Renaissance highlight for no less than three hours and 45 minutes. (TC)more
