The oboe has always played an important role in French music. Especially the expressive qualities of the instrument are widely praised. Works by three French composers (Saint Saëns, Dutilleux, Poulenc) and two composers who stayed in Paris for a long time (Mihalovici, Shinohara) from this century have been recorded on CD by oboist Pauline Austria and pianist Ivo Janssen.
